Resinous flooring advantages

Resinous flooring is fluid-applied industrial flooring. Systems range from resin-rich self-leveling and broadcast floors to aggregate-rich epoxy mortars installed by screed box, trowel and power trowel. Aggregate adds impact resistance, weight and wear resistance.

Resinous flooring uses

Resinous flooring for wear, impact and thermal shock

Systems run 1/8 to 1/2 inch thick, usually with aggregate for the performance and non-slip level you need. Once cured, the surface can be harder and more durable than concrete. Integral cove base usually goes in with a seamless floor for extra protection.

Safety paths for forklifts and pedestrians

In several manufacturing facilities we installed gray epoxy paths for forklifts, wheeled and vehicle traffic and blue epoxy paths for pedestrians, separated by yellow safety markings. Topcoats can carry color-coded markings or striping as each facility needs.

Moisture testing for resinous flooring

100% solids epoxy systems need moisture vapor transmission (MVT) testing and usually a moisture control primer or mitigation system. Manufacturers typically require under 3 pounds of MVT and under 75% RH, on 3 test sites per 1,000 square feet over at least 24 hours. A floor that exceeds either gets a mitigation system first.

Urethane cement for moisture control

Because resinous floors are high build, we recommend or specify a mitigation system. Urethane cement is the preferred choice. It controls a nearly limitless level of MVT and extends the life of the resinous floor.
