Commercial epoxy flooring solutions

Commercial epoxy flooring protects your concrete and the investment in your property. Most customers look at concrete floors and only consider the possibilities for aesthetics. This often leads to concrete being an afterthought and, at times, overlooked for preventative maintenance and long-term functionality. When it comes down to it, concrete is a very porous material and susceptible to damage caused by moisture, stains and heavy or high traffic if it’s left as a bare surface or improperly treated or protected. We offer a variety of light, medium, and heavy-duty commercial floor coatings and sealers to fit in almost any setting for nearly any commercial space. Western Concrete Coatings matches the correct flooring system with the floor usage in your facility to decrease your total cost of ownership by making sure the correct coatings system is being installed.

Commercial epoxy flooring uses

Dust control and cleanability

Commercial floor coatings have a wide range of uses from light use up to high wear and heavy-duty industrial uses. The floor coating system that will work best will also vary depending on your floor usage.

Dust is often a major issue in most work environments and commercial spaces. Once the existing concrete becomes worn, it is difficult to keep the floor clean and attractive. Installing a warehouse floor coating designed to be dust proof greatly improves the cleanability of a warehouse floor. Solutions for this problem include polishing or a thin mil coating that is either clear or pigmented. Polished concrete has become a popular floor treatment that can be used in almost all of these situations. Sealed concrete with natural concrete look or a decorative finish can be extremely cost effective for commercial floors with foot traffic and light wheeled traffic.

Light reflection and warehouse safety

Light reflection is another benefit of commercial epoxy flooring. Many coatings brighten a warehouse without adding additional lighting. The area will brighten with a clear coat but a pigmented coating, like light gray, helps brighten a space even more.

Improving safety in a warehouse is an ongoing concern. Designating specific traffic patterns and/or safety striping can be used to separate pedestrian areas, forklift areas, storage areas and shipping areas to improve safety for employees and visitors. Warehouse epoxy flooring is a great solution.

Heavy duty and chemical exposure

When commercial floors fall on the high wear and heavy-duty spectrum, there are additional options to fulfill those needs as well. If the floor needs protection from gas, oil or other chemicals such as acids in forklift and equipment charging areas, there are several commercial epoxy flooring systems available that will resist damage from exposure to those elements. In addition, loading docks are another typical problem area we find. Loading docks have high wear, heavy duty industrial, pallet usage and heavy forklift traffic so they definitely need a commercial floor coating system that can withstand that level of usage.

HVAC company warehouse project

Heavily damaged old concrete, large cracks, and spalling were repaired before installing a commercial epoxy flooring system in the warehouse area for an HVAC company. Their floor had to be able to withstand abuse from work trucks driving in and out all day and equipment being moved around daily. In addition, they wanted a warehouse floor coating system that would give them increased cleanability, and it needed to be decorative. We provided a flooring solution that fulfilled all these requirements of not only the shop space, but some office space, a breakroom, hallways and employee restrooms.
