Food Processing Plant Flooring advantages:

Finding flooring options for a food processing environment presents many challenges. The floors in these environments often need to perform under aggressive operating conditions while still being maintained and kept very clean to avoid health-related issues. Floors must also allow a facility to meet strict FDA and USDA standards.

We offer several flooring system options that are designed for long-lasting performance and quick installation. These flooring systems improve safety, clean ability and productivity at your facility and can be applied to new concrete, deteriorated acid brick or restore rough or badly damaged floor surfaces that have been exposed to years of contamination. In addition, there are low odor products that cause no environmental concerns or any problems for employees or the food process.

Options are limited when you’re looking for a durable floor system that can withstand frequent cleanings with a variety of chemicals and exposure to various levels of heat and humidity. Floors in these facilities are constantly exposed to hot oils, fats, natural acids, cleaning detergents, steam cleaning and disinfecting chemicals. In addition, how often is your floor hot water washed? Seamless flooring systems with an integral cove base provide the best sanitary protection with an uninterrupted floor-to-wall transition.

Deteriorating dairy brick/quarry tile floors cause several hazards. They can be a slipping hazard to employees and the cracking mortar joints cause a concern for harboring bacteria and dirt. We provide flooring options that can be installed directly over the existing dairy brick which saves a significant amount of time. In addition, these options provide adequate slip resistance, withstand thermal cycling conditions during operation and maintenance, meet USDA and FDA guidelines and do not cause environmental concerns or offensive odors during installation.

The main system we recommend and install in food processing facilities is a Urethane Cement system.

Many facilities postpone flooring repairs until they become absolutely necessary because they cannot afford downtime in their facility. We completely understand the cost associated with shutting down for extended periods of time and will divide the project into sections to minimize disruption of a processing facility. There are several flooring solutions we can offer which greatly reduce the time it takes to prep the floor, install the flooring system and allow for cure time. We install systems in which the base coat takes only 3-4 hours for recoat and the topcoat can be ready for full use in 12 hours or less depending on the temperature. When comparing flooring options and their installation costs, it is important to consider the cost of the flooring system installation, with turnaround time, compared to what the downtime will cost in production loss.

While we also offer other flooring system options, urethane cement for food processing facilities meets all the criteria needed in these harsh processing environments.

We can provide a safer workplace and a protective floor finish that will withstand years of exposure to your challenging work environment.
